HipHop Artist John Blake Your Light (Let It Shine) Feat Elisa Polanco Music Review

Miami-based Music Artist John Blake has recently released a new song, “ Your Light (Let it Shine)” The track is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon Music; for anyone looking for a song as a “pick me up,” this is it. “Your Life (Let it Shine)” is an inspirational song featuring the vocals of Elisa Polanco. The video for the song is now available on YouTube and features a montage of moments that exemplify never giving up and working towards your dream. For many, it could be viewed as a life changer.

In the song, Blake asks us to change the world, and emphasizes the need to “not give up the fight.” The video takes the viewer from the graffiti-covered streets of his city to the glamorous world of music production. Above all, Blake sings, though, he has to represent for God. The sweet sounds of Polanco's voice provide the chorus, inspiring listeners not to give up on life.

Blake classifies himself as an “author, lyricist and aspiring poet” on his website, and listening to the track, it's no wonder why. The lyrics resonate with the listener, and feature truths anyone can appreciate that transcend music. The artist's music is described as Contemporary Hip Hop/R&B with an inspirational theme, and if “Your Light (Let it Shine)” is any indication, Blake is here to stay in the music world, breaking down boundaries with this unique hybrid of poignant music. The track immediately drew comparisons to Tupac Shakur's “Changes.”

What sets Blake apart from other artists is his ability to elicit emotion from the listener, and makes them feel happy and inspired. He eschews the “cash money girls cars” sentiments of many Hip Hop artists today, and instead focuses on music that reflects what he wants from life. The musical combo is unlike that on the radio today, and is a welcome addition to the music scene.
